Cutest Cake Ever!

On Friday, some friends threw me the cutest shower! They heard that I may have to go on hospital bedrest and that our sweet baby may be born early so they quickly put together a shower before my possible doomsday today where my high risk could've told me that I'd have to stay in the hospital. So they quickly put it together, but it was impossible to tell, everything was so perfect! Tamara and Lindsey put together this darling diaper cake!

Thanks so much to all my cute friends that made my shower so fantabulous!

Not in the Hospital!

As you may know, my high risk docs threatened that they may put me on hospital bedrest rather than the home bedrest I'm on right now. Well luckily, today was not the day for that threat to be realized! They checked my cervix via ultrasound and it has gotten just a little bit longer! Of course, it was at 1.4 cm last week and today it was 1.8 cm and then I had a contraction and it shortened almost down to 1.4 again, but either way it hasn't gotten any shorter! So, good news!

Also, they don't check weight and measurements at every appointment, but they will check the heartbeat and a couple of things everytime. So 10 days ago, baby was 3 lbs 3 oz - a little big for his age, but totally in the normal range, and from what I've read, they typically gain about 1/2 pound every week, so I can only guess how big he was today. With the threat of a preterm birth I've been hoping he'll grow fast so that life will start out easier for him!

But I was excited when the sonographer or whatever her official title is turned on the 3D imaging and we got to see our baby look a little more like a baby! My placenta is in the front so it's always hard to get really clear ultrasounds, but this is a peak as to what he'll look like! The mass in front of him is the placenta. I know it's just the 3D image, but I can't help myself already trying to figure out what he got from Chris and what he got from me!

A couple of belly pics

Okay, so I'm finally posting a couple of belly pictures! And they're already a little outdated! But you get the general idea - I haven't had Chris take any pics lately since I've been in my pjs most of the time!

This one was when I was 26 weeks and 5 days...

And this was when I still had a belly button at 21 weeks 5 days. This was when it started looking like I was pregnant and not just getting chubby. Chris put the sticker on my belly that says 'Hi cutie' from a clementine! (I don't think he really wanted me to post about that, but let's be honest, this pic of me is way more embarassing and the sticker thing was cute!)

And so it goes...

Well, I may start getting on top of blogging and stuff in the next short while! Chris had been taking pics of my belly with the new camera I got him for Christmas, so maybe I'll borrow it from him to get pictures off it and onto the blog!

So, we've been seeing a high risk doc in addition to our regular ob since about 20 weeks after they discovered my cervix was shortening. The good news is that they never had to do a stitch to keep it closed and they were just watching me closer. The bad news is that their threat finally came true and they put me on bedrest after my appointment on Friday. As you know, I am AWFUL at being on bedrest, especially when I feel fine, so I may be bugging everyone out of boredom in the next little while. I mostly feel bad for Chris who already had a lot on his plate and now has even more. And naturally, we're both the most worried about our sweet baby. I was given a couple of steroid shots to help his lungs and brain development as I was told I will be having him early, but of course, no one really knows when that is. Hopefully the bedrest helps and he stays in there at least until 32 weeks (although preferably longer)! I go back in next Friday so hopefully my cervix chills out on its shortening!

I wasn't able to get his weight and measurements on Friday, but two weeks ago when I was 26 weeks, he weighed 2 lbs 3 oz, up from an even 1 pound at 24 weeks! He definitely looked bigger on Friday at 28 weeks, but I guess I'll have to wait until next week to find out his weight, I'm just hoping he gets bigger fast for his sake!

But I promise to post pics soon for you out-of-staters as soon as I play with Chris' camera!

Baby's first Valentine!

Ava, our cute two-year old neice sent our baby his first Valentine! So stinkin' cute! She signed it with a scribble!

Our Sweet Baby at 20 Weeks 3 Days

So obviously I'm a little belated. And my scanner is acting up, so I took a picture of the ultrasound picture so it's pretty blurry, but here's a pic of our baby two months ago! We've been fortunate and unfortunate, depending on how you look at it, to see him via ultrasound every two weeks since, but the pictures we've gotten from those are rarely profiles and rather measurements of legs, arms, heart, etc. All things we're glad we have, but the profile is what tells us what he might look like! Maybe when my scanner starts working properly, I switch this for a clearer one!
