Simple Things

Lately I've been thinking about the simple things that I love in my life...

I love that Moose lays square on his back on the floor next to Chris and stretches his legs above his head if we let lay him in our living room

I love that Chris wakes up with all his hair sticking straight up (not out, but up) and I love when I'm being a dork and he smiles like he loves me but also doesn't want me to know that he actually likes my dorky antics and of course, I love the links he sends me at work like 'the swagger wagon', cheeseandburger.com, and random articles he thinks I'll like (which I always do, babe)

I love that Cash is always so excited to see me when I get home -his excitement wipes any and all my frustration away - life is so simple for dogs and I think I'm happier when I stop and appreciate the simple things that are so great in my life.

Although I am in no way a morning person, there are certainly perks to waking up with the sun...

My favorite part of my day is when I'm on my way home from work and I drive past Camp Williams and see the green fields and lake and Saratoga ahead of me, it's such a gorgeous gateway to home (I just wish these pics did the view justice - I guess that's what I get when I take pics while driving!)...

Signs of Spring...

For work, we had to take a week of furlough that we could take here and there in blocks of at least five hours. I have to say, I loved being able to take time off whenever I wanted for no apparent reason. One afternoon, I left work at noon and came home. I spent the afternoon cooking. I love to cook anyway, but to take my time and really just cook because I felt like it and love doing it was wonderful and fulfilling. But first, I made myself lunch. This may sound funny, but it was the best lunch ever. I'll admit, I've always loved veggies and as a kid my friend's mom made us english muffins with a poached egg, fresh tomatoes, broccoli, and hollandaise sauce. I got full and couldn't eat it all but I've never forgotten how incredible it was and I've been looking to have it again for years without ever finding it's match. So, this still wasn't a perfect match, but it was a piece of heaven in another way. I toasted honey whole wheat bread and spread a bit of mayo on it. I then put fresh sliced tomatoes on, topping it with avocado, an overeasy egg, and steamed broccoli with a bit of salt and pepper. You seriously need to try it, I'm starting to salivate just thinking about it again! I later made it for Chris and added cheese which was a good addition. Can you tell we're foodies? Food is such a simple thing, but one of my greatest joys is creating food and of course eating it!
